Debouncing:

The debouncing algorithm starts the timer when the normally open contact is closed for more than 1 ms and stops the timer when the normally closed contact remains open for longer than 16 ms. Any bounce caused by the relay contacts moving against each other is therefore ignored, and the timer only stops when the contacts finally part completely.
